Mountain agriculture is still an important part of life in Notre Dame de Bellecombe.vache.jpg

Most farming is based around the production of Savoie's famous cheeses: Reblochon and Beaufort (Appelations d'Origines Contrôlées et Protégées).

The Val d'Arly overflows with quality local products, which Bellecombe's farmers, shopkeepers and restaurateurs will be delighted to help you discover.

You will be able to taste and find out more about all these specialities, these riches of Savoie, at the Saint-Vincent Week (January) or at the Savoie Wines Festival (August).

Example: Farcement or farçon.

Ingredients: potatoes, 1 or 2 spoons of flour, a large handful of raisins, sea salt. Exact quantities are difficult to define as they depend on the size of the cast-iron pot and on the variety of potato used.

Peel and grate the raw potatoes into a large dish. Add the salt, raisins and flour. Some people also add prunes. Place the mixture in a well-greased cast-iron pot. Brown on both sides over a low flame, so the crust that forms does not get too hard.
